| 1619 | Deacon Increase Robinson 4th was born in 1739; his wife, Rebekah Bourne, 1n 1733. They moved from Pembroke, Mass. in 1783 and were the sixth family to settle in the eastern part of Sumner, Maine. They brought their eight children with them. Deacon Increase built the first grocery store in Sumner. He was a cooper and made many useful utensils for the early settlers. The first public worship was held in his house. He built the first frame dwelling in town which was occupied until the fourth generation when it was given to the town of East Sumner for use as a library and community center. His son Increase 5th succeeded to the mills (he evidently owned a mill or mills which he operated) for many years and he in turn by his son, Deacon Sharon Robinson who lived and died on the old homestead.
