5028 Otis Bisbee left Union College in 1849 to become a teacher in Collegiate School where he was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa in 1851. In 1867 he founded the Riverside Military Academy in Poughkeepsie, NY. Major Joseph Bartlett Bisbee was also a teacher and his first school was on College Hill. The building was modeled after the Parthenon and was built in 1836. Major Bisbee succeeded his father, Otis, as director.
