952 At the Wattsburg Historical Society, one can find a book of handwritten minutes for the Wattsburg Borough Council, recorded between 1873 and 1886. They show that Cheney often did work for the borough, building and repairing roads and bridges. Standard pay for labor in those days was 15 cents an hour, 30 cents if you supplied your own team of horses. At one point, he was fined for not repairing a sidewalk in front of his own home, and he was nearly charged for keeping an untaxed dog in his yard. In 1886 Cheney was himself elected to the borough council. In the photographs of him, an elderly Cheney sports a full white beard. Bisbee, Cheney B. (I24)

961 Augustus Byron Bisbee moved to Schenectady, New York with his parents, where he went to school. He then entered the study of medicine, but relinquished his plans of becoming a physician and secured an interest in a drug store at Schenectady, carrying on a successful business for three years. In 1869 Augustus Byron came to Benton Harbor Michigan, where for 12 years he was engaged in the drug business. In 1884 he was elected Recorder of Deeds of Berrien County. After retiring from the recorder's office he embarked in the real-estate business for some time. 963 Augustus C. went overland to California around 1849 searching for gold and returned via Panama. He bought/sold lots in the town of Fairwater, Wisconsin, was one of its founders. Fond du Lac Co, Wisconsin land records reflect that an agent represented Augustus C. between July 1853 to Feb, 1856. In 1866, Augustus C. Bisbee's family, along with his mother, moved to Neveda twp, Mower Co, northeast of Sacramento, California to mine for gold, and died there. Information from Donald M. Bisbee.

973 Aylmer Vincent Smith was a seaman first class in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He served from 15 November 1943 to 12 December 1945 and was stationed in Rhode Island, Panama, and California. He was long associated with his father and brothers in the retail furniture firmss of A. A. Smith, Inc. and the Wolcott House. In 1959, he became owner and president of A. A. Luther Bisbee moved to Plainfield, Mass. with his brother, Ebenezer as early as 1779.

The 1790 US Census for Massachusetts records, "Luther Bisby Cummington, Hampshire Co. 6 m. 2 fem., 4 m. 16 under 26, 2 m. 10 under 16." Have record of one child, Nahum. The US Census of Hampshire Co. has no record of Luther Bisbee for 1800-1810-1820.

The records of Revolutionary War soldiers and sailors from Massachusetts mention, "luther Bisbee Private, Capt. Abraham Washburn's Co., Col. Abiah Stearns Reg't.; enlisted 4-11-1778, service 2 mos. 24 das. at Castle Island." Also, "Private, Capt. Nathan Smith's Co., Col. Jacob's Reg't. Payroll for Nov. 1778, service 1 mo." Also, "Luther Bisbee, Bridgewater, list of men mustered in Plymouth Co. by James Hatch, Muster Master, Capt. James Allen's Co., col. Gate's Reg't. Residence Bridgewater, enlisted for town of Bridgewater, enlistment 9 mos. to expire Jan. 1st 1779."

Various actions in Court of Sessions, Hampshire Co., Mass. were recorded from 1798 to 1808. Deeds were recorded in 1790, 1804, 1805 and 1807.

Luther served as juror in 1794.

The 1800 US Census for Vermont lists, "Joseph, Orwell, Rutland Co., 1 m. under 10; 1 m. 26 to 45 yrs. 1 fem. 26 to 45 yrs." Also, "Joseph Bisby New Haven, Vt. Rutland Co., 2 m. under 10; 1 m. 26 and under 45 yrs.; 1 fem. under 10 and 1 fem. under 45 yrs."

Gerald G. Zimmerman (Descendant of Joseph Bisbee) 1709 Walden Lane SW Rochester, MN 55902-0901 "Joseph Bisbee leased 50 acres to his father Benjamin in 1808. They were still selling or buying land into 1811.. seems to be Joseph, Ezra and Benjamin.. then in 1815 Joseph bought 122 acres in Genesee Co. Since they were in the sawmill business in Orwell, they might have used up the trees and decided to move to NY?"

William Z. Bisbee was Master (Captain) of the vessel "Crusoe." Built at Newbury, Mass. in 1849, the Crusoe was 113 feet, one and one-half inches in length, twenty-five feet, nine and three-quarters inches in breadth, twelve feet, ten and seven-eighths inches in depth and was registered at 342 tons. The owners lived in Boston and Plymouth, Mass.

Records of soldiers and sailors of the Revolutionary War from Massachusetts show, "Isaac Bisbey of Duxbury, Private, Capt. Benjamin Wadsworth's Reg't., Col. James Warren's 2nd Reg't. which marched on alarm of April 19, 1775; service 3 days."

Also, "Capt. Calvin Partridge's Co., Col. John Cushing's Reg't. Drafted Sept. 23, 1776; service 1 mo. 28 days at Rhode Island."

Also, "Corporal in Lieut. Nathan Samson's 2nd Co., Col. Thomas Lathrop's Reg't.; marched Bristol, R. I. on alarm Dec.10, 1776; service 10 days."

Also, "Isaac of Pembroke, Private, John Turner's Co., Col. Cotton's Ref't., marched Sept. 28, 1777, service 1 month 3 days at R. I."

Also, "Payroll of Capt. John Turner's Co., in Col. Theophilus Cotton's Reg't. marched to R. I. agreeable to orders of General Court, this State, Sept. 25, 1777, Charles and Isaac Bisbee, Privates."

The 1790 US Census for Vermont lists, "Robert Bisbie, Benson, Rutland Co., 1 m. 16 to 25, 2 m. under 16 yrs., 1 fem. 16 up." The 1800 Census lists, "Robert Bisby, Orwell, Rutland Co., 1 m. under 10 yrs., 1 m. 26 to 45 yrs., 3 fem. under 10 yrs., 1 fem. 26 to 45 yrs."

Drowned in the St. Regis River at Stockhollm, St. Lawrence County, New York.

Robert migrated with his family to Vermont, where he was listed in the 1791 census as living in Benson, Rutland Co. He and Margaret later settled in Orwell, Rutland Co., with his parents and his siblings. After he and a daughter drowned in a spring flood, Margaret may have remarried and returned to the area at the foot of Lake Champlain where she was raised.
