    • The 1790 US Census for Mass. lists, "Elijah Bisbee Jr. of Plympton, Plymouth Co., 5 m. 4 fem."

      Records of soldiers and sailors of the Revolutionary War from Massachusetts mentions, "Elijah Bisbee Jr. of Plympton, Sergeant of Capt. Thomas Loring's Co. which marched on alarm of April 19, 1775 to Marshfield. Service 1 day."

      Also, "Lieut. of Capt. Ebenezer Washburn's Co., Col. John Chushing's Reg't.; return of men ordered to march to Rhode Island; regiment mustered from Brig. General Cushing's (Plymouth Co.) Brigade and Brig. General Otis' (Barnstable Co.) Brigade and returned Oct. 30th, 1776; Company raised in Kingston, Plymouth and Halifax.

      Also, "Capt. James harlow's Co. commanded by Lieut. Elijah Bisbee Jr. Col. Thomas Lathrop's Reg't. Gen. Cushing's Brigade; payroll for 16 das. service dated Plympton 3-20-1779, marched to Rhode Island on an alarm."

      Again, "Capt. Ichabod Bonney's Co. Col. Nathan Sparhawk's Reg't.; roll made up by order of Council of 9-7-1778 for service at Castle Island; Elijah Jr. of Plympton, 1st Lieut. of Capt. James Harlow's 12th, 1st Plymouth County Reg't. List of officers of Mass. Militia commissioned 6-6-1776."

      And again, "Capt. Harlow's Co. Col. Theophilus Cotton's Reg't. List of officers of Mass. (1st Plymouth Co.) Militia commissioned 10-28-1778.

      Ratification of the Federal Constitution was voted by a convention at Boston on Jan. 9th 1788. John Hancock was President. The member from Plympton was [Elisha Bisbee]. Yeas 187, nays 167 including [Elisha Bisbee Jr.]. This is probably and error and the record should have read "Elijah." See New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Vol. 1, page 232.

      From History of Plymouth County, D. Hamilton Hurd, Compiler, J.W. Lewis & Co, Phila, 1884 the following: 1778: Elijah Bisbee & Isaiah Cushman were chosen a committee to consider a plan of government sent to Plympton town for approval, and on their report was rejected 55-17.

      1779: Elijah Bisbee as Treasurer of Plympton.

      1780-1784: Elijah Bisbee was one of three on Board of Selectmen.

      1788, 1790-1798: Elijah Bisbee was Treasurer of Plympton. 1795-1798: Elijah Bisbee was also Town Clerk of Plympton. 1794: Elijah Bisbee was moderator at town meeting.

      1800-1811: Elijah Bisbee was Town Clerk of Plympton. 1808-1814: Elijah Bisbee was Representative to General Court.

      1814-1817: Elijah Bisbee was moderator at town meetings. 1815-1817: Elijah Bisbee was on board of Selectmen.

      Elijah d. "Aged 84 yrs. 7 mos. 6 das. of apoplectic fit." Plympton grave record, "Sacred to th memory of Elijah Bisbee who died April 21, 1831 aged 84 yrs. 7 mos. 6 das. Mouldering in dust the body lies, Til the just trump shall bid it arise. My aged friends, awake, prepare Before the Saviour to appear." [3]
