    • Records for 1812-1814 of the Massachusetts Militia show, "Calvin Bisbee, Lieut. E. Steven's Co., Lieut. Col. C. Clark's Reg't.; raised in Sumner, Maine 9-14-1814; service at Portland, Maine."

      Calvin Bisbee lived on the old homestead in Sumner and was much respected in the town. He was a member of the convention which framed the State Constitution and later a member of the legislature in 1823, 1827 and 1829. He came to Sumner in the summer of 1784.

      Calvin d. "Aged 86 yrs." Grave record: "Calvin Bisbee born Bridgewater, Mass. 10-14-1771. Came to Sumner 1784. Died 11-28-1857. Aged 86 yrs. Member of Constitutional Convention (Maine) 1819. Member of the Legislature 1823, 1827 and 1829." [3]
