  • Notes 
    • Elijah Wyatt Bisbee received his education in the public schools and for several years was a teacher in the vicinity of his native Weathersfield. He moved to Waitsfield, Vt. with his parents in 1836 and lived there until 1864 when he moved to Moretown where he bought the old Ephraim Pearce farm.

      In politics he was a Republican and was a member of the Congregational Curch. He was a butter and produce buyer for the firm of J> W. Merriam Co., Faneuil Hall Market, Boston. He was a Selectman of Moretown for several years and took an active interest in public afffairs. He was president of the Washington County Agricultrual Society and a trustee of Barre Academy in 1849. HE practised law in Moretown. In 1877 all his buildings were destroyed by a fire of incendiary origin. The perpetrator was caught and punished. --from Dewey Genealogy, by Louis M. Dewey, 1908.
