    • Bessie was first married to (Richard's father) Stephan Louis Rogers who was much older than she. They later divorced and she married his son Richard Stephan who was her age. The first marriage was more of an arrangement and Steve gave his blessing to Richard & Bessie and they all remained on good terms and visited each other often.
