  • Notes 
    • Franklin Bisbee was reputed to excel in the art of making steel. He learned the trade in Canton, Mass. at the age of 20; commenced to work for himself at Bridgewater and manufactured the first cast steel hoes and shovels. He moved to Canton, Mass. in 1849 and made mason's trowels. He also patented an improvement on a ferrule.
      He died "Aged 68 Yrs. 5 Mos. 25 Das." [6]
