    • Robert and Jean frequently traveled aboard cruise ships, usually for pleasure, but Robert also for diplomatic work that he did in assisting Czechoslovakia repatriate their refugees after WW1. Whilst he had a career as a cotton merchant and owned several cotton mills in Connecticut, he also worked with the League of Nations (predecessor to the United Nations). -- contributed by Val Caldwell, wife of Douglas Ralph Caldwell of Western Australia, grandson of Robert and Jean, and of Grace Belle Bisbee.
