  • Notes
    • William Coomb's parents died when he was quite young. When he was home from sea he probably lived with his uncle, Benjamin Coombs, in New Bedford. He followed the sea in early life and later was a farmer. After they had set the day of the wedding and were married in the Precinct Church, he sailed for Antwerp, Belgium on the same night. He returned within a year, whereupon he bought a farm near Lakeville, Mass. He was generous and outspoken. His wife, Hannah, died in 1905. She was the oldest person in Middleboro at the time. She had resided there with her son J. Arthur Coombs. [1]
