    • From a memoir by Carl Blakeslee at the Union City, Pennsylvania Public Library, regarding property held at one time by James Grant: "This farm had previously been owned by the Shreve family. At one time it was owned by some of the Grants and earlier by a Bisbee family. Monroe Bisbee lived there shortly after the Civil War. He had gone through the Civil War completely without a scratch. He came home, went coon hunting, climbed a large tree to shake a coon out, stepped on a dead limb and fell and broke his neck. He is presently buried in the Shreve Ridge Cemetery and is a direct relative of the various Bisbees that are buried in this cemetery ..." --contributed by Kathi Wright.

    4. [S1736] Note.
The only information we have on Morrow's birth is found in the census. In 1850 and 1860 Morrow Monroe Bisbee is living in the household of Reuben and Naomi Bisbee, whom we assume to be his parents.
      1) On 3 October 1850, Morrow is age 13 (born 1836-1837), born New York.
      2) On 19 Jul 1860, his age is 21 (born 1838-1839), born Pennsylvania.
      3) On 7 Jun 1870 he is head of household, age 32 (born 1837-1838), born New York.
If we discount the 1860 census because the birthplace (and probably the age) is incorrect, the 1850 and 1870 censuses would be consistent with a birthdate between June and October 1837.
