    Text "Mrs. Sophia McElwee died at her home 921 South First street, South Canon, at 11:30 o'clock Sunday night, May 23rd from paralysis, after a lingering illness, aged fifty-five years, 9 months and 27 days.
    "Deceased was a native of New York state and came here from Nebraska about six years ago. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and was in all respects a most estimable woman. Mrs. McElwee leaves besides numerous other relatives, two sisters, two brothers and an adopted daughter to mourn her death. They are Mr. Willis A. Bisbee, Angel Camp, Cal., Mr. Harvey T. Bisbee, Mrs. Ida A. Towns, Mrs. Lottie B. McKenzie and Mrs. W. W. Merris, respectively of Canon City, Colo. The brother residing in California has notified the family of his desire to attend the obsequies, and the funeral will not be held until 2 o'clock next Saturday afternoon.
    "The remains will lie in state at the undertaking parlors of Hawley & Son, throughout the week and may be viewed by the friends of the family at any time after Wednesday morning. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. J. T. Thomas, followed by the interment at Lakeside Cemetery. -- Canon City Record."
