    • According to the 1850 census, Schedule 4, Productions of Agriculture, Francis Hamlin owned a farm consisting of 70 improved and 80 unimproved acres, a farm with cash value of $1700 and value of equipment of $30. As of June 1, 1850 he had one horse, no mules, 6 milk cows, 4 walking oxen, 12 other cattle, no sheep, two swine -- livestock worth $338. He produced 13 bushels of wheat, 60 bushels of rye, 125 bushels of Indian corn and 60 bushels of oats. He produced no cotton or wool, two bushels of peas and beans, 150 bushels of Irish potatoes, no sweet potatoes, barley or buckwheat, $35 worth of orchard produts, no wine or market garden produce, 300 lbs of butter, no cheese, 30 tons of hay, and $50 worth of home-made manufacture.
