  • Notes 
    • One John Bisbee of Plainfield, Mass. in 1807 gave a warranty deed to Joshua and Sarah Shaw, land to the value of $1050, in Meredith, Delaware County, N. Y. and recorded in Delhi, N. Y. Record B 404.Revolutionary War records of soldiers and sailors of Massachusetts shows, "John Bisbee of Bridgewater, Private Capt. Elisha Mitchell's Co. Col. Simeon Cary's Reg't.; payrol for 7 das; service between time of enlistment and time of marching dated April 22, 1776."

      The 1790 US Census for Massachusetts lists John Bisbee Bridgewater 4 m. and 4 fem.

      "John Bisbee was a man of marked ability and carried on various kinds of business including a tannery, blacksmith shop, brick factory and farming."

      John d. "Aged 70 yrs. canser."

      EDSON FAMILY HISTORY AND GENEALOGY by Carrol Andrew Edson has, "MARY EDSON third child and second daughter of John Edson and Judith Shaw, and twin of Martha, born 24 May 1772 Bridgewater, Mass., married there 17 Oct. 1817 as his third wife, John Bisbee, born 15 April 1747. He died 1 Nov. 1817, Abington, Mass., she died 2 Feb 1833. He had married, 1st, intentions 14 Nov. 1771, Abington, Mass., as her second husband, Rebecca Keith, daughter of Josiah Keith, and widow of Isaac Alden. She died in Abington 10 Aug. 1777. He married, 2nd, 11 March 1779, Huldah Shaw, born 22 May 1747, daughter of Ebenezer Shaw and Mary Reed." [3, 5]
    • There are some obvious problems with this person's marriages/children. It appears that two John Bisbees may have been conflated here. More research required.
