- Carolyn was born March 1, 1907 near Athens, Texas. The family lived in Coats, Kansas for a short time and then moved to the farm three miles southwest of Protection, Kansas. "She attended the one room country school during the grades, then graduated from Protection High School and the Dodge City Business College. She was a member of the Protection, then Ford, and later the Bucklin Methodist Church since childhood.
She was employed ath The Credit Bureau in Dodge City and Hays, and the Kansas State Extension Service for several years. She worked at the Bucklin State Bank from 1954 to September 1976 and later remained a stockholder and director of the bank. She was active in church and women's groups, BPW Club for 22 years and later the Bucklin Civic Club. She remained in the home in Bucklin several years after Bernard passed away enjoying her garden, sewing, and crocheting. [1]
