    • Identification of Harriet Bisbee with the family of Wallace William Daniels is not proven.

Harriet was deceased by 1884 according to History of Erie County, Pennsylvania, comp. Warner Beers. The last census in which she appears with her parents is 1860 when she is ten years old. Family lore says that she married Charles Daniels; that after Harriet died Charles married her sister, Olive. While this is possible, it seems unlikely. In the 1910 Census, Charles Daniels indicates he has only been married once--to Olive. There is another compelling possibility, however, found in the 1870 and 1880 census.

In 1870, one "Harriet" is (perhaps newly) married to William Wallace Daniels, brother of Charles Daniels. From the 1880 census it appears that Harriet and Wallace Daniels had a daughter, Anna, born about 1871. Now, if Harriet survived her father, Joseph C. Bisbee (d. 1873), she would have been his direct heir. If she then died before Joseph's estate was probated (1891), her daughter Anna would have become a direct heir. Anna Daniels is very likely Anna J. Haskell (married to Charles E. Haskell), who is identified in the probate records as a direct heir of Joseph C. Bisbee.

According to the Census, in 1880 Harriet is no longer in the Daniels household. Dr. W. W. Daniels is enumerated with his daughter Anna in Warren County, Pennsylvania, where he is remarried to somebody named Julia. The Census makes it pretty clear that Julia is not Anna's mother because, although she obviously provides personal info to the enumerator, she knows nothing about her husband's parent's place of birth, or about Anna's.

Eventually, Dr. Daniels married a third time to a woman from Missouri. They moved for a few years to Texas, then back to Montgomery County, Missouri, where he practiced medicine, had a lot of children, and lived out the rest of his life.
