    • According to Civil War Records, Eunice was sixty-three years old as of 8 December 1896 and a resident of Hayfield Township, Crawford County, Pa., and sixty-four years old as of 19 November 1897, a resident of Coons Corners (Hayfield Twp), Crawford Co., Pa.

      The 1900 census gives Eunice Mallory's birth as March, 1833. We may assume the month of birth (March) is correct--everybody usually gets the month right. The 1850 census is consistent with a birthday in March, 1833. The 1860, 1870 and 1880 census returns seem to shave her age by 5-6 years. Those returns would have her born in 1838 or 1839. In all the censuses, children are listed from eldest to youngest; in her parents home, Eunice is listed between Susanna (born 1829) and her younger brother Morrow (born abt 1837). This would rule out a birthdate after 1837.

The soldier was previously married but his wife died prior to his marriage to the claimant....No children were ever born to the soldier or claimant."
