- Names and birth information for children of this family come from a family Bible list in the possession of Cathy French, Rochester, New York, direct descendant of Hiram Alonzo Bisbee.
- From Cathy French, Rochester, New York:
"I recently came across a COPY of a letter written by Annis (Bisbee) Canfield. It was sent to me by the Livingston Co., NY Historian's office. Part of it refers to Nahum and Maria.
"She writes, "Nahum was drafted in the War of 1812 and left home a short time after he married Maria Hallenbeck. His wife lived with us while he was away. He was brought home sick from Sackett's Harbor and nearly lost the sight of one eye."
"She also goes on to say that her father Luther "worked for a long time in drawing cannons, powder and cannon balls to Sackett's Harbor."
"In addition, I found a Naham Bisby in the Company: 10 Regt (Priors), NY Militia; rank induction, CPL; Rank discharge, Sgt. Ancestry Roll box 17; Microfilm Publication, M602.
"I don't know if this is him OR if you list War of 1812 soldiers but I wanted the Bisbee Family site to have the information. You might wish to verify information if you do use it.
"The letter is a treasure......even if not the original. It documents the move the Luther Bisbee family made from Albany area to Cayuga Co to the founding of "Bisbeetown" in Allegheny CO, NY-----Now Westview, Livingston Co, NY near Ossian and Nunda, NY."
