  • Notes 
    • Family lore has it that Roger was driving his family to the Wattsburg Fair in an early-model automobile with "suicide" doors, that is, doors which were hinged to the rear and opened to the front. For some reason, the driver's side door came open and Roger tried to save it. He was dragged out of the vehicle and killed. The car continued on until it crashed. The children were not hurt.
