  • Notes 
    • Timothy Heald Bisbee left home at the age of 21. He went first to California and then to Oregon where he ran a lumber mill at Heppner until about 1888 when the mill burned. He and partner Grant Gilliam then went into the hardware business.

      In California, Timothy invested in and worked at the Lone Star Mine:
      "At an altitude of 6,750 feet, lies about 14 miles northeast of Downieville. The company are operating on a northwest and southeast vein averaging 4 feet in width, dipping at a angle of 75 degrees. The hanging wall is diabase, the foot wall slate. A tunnel 400 feet in length has been run for the ledge, requiring about 150 feet more to run. The shaft is 20 feet deep. The quartz is similar to that of the Young America." [13]
