    • Elisha Bisbee Jr. lived in Hingham and was known as "Ensign Bisbee."

      In the will of Thomas King, an item reads: "To my daughter, Sarah Bisbey, the use and improvement of three acres of marsh land, up the river in Marshfield next to the 'Gravely Beach' there and so by upland side, during her natural life and the life of her husband."

      From the records, Marshfield General Court, this item: "Received and admitted as Freemen at ye 1st June 1689 General Court from Marshfield, Elisha Bisbey, Hopestill Bisbey..." Sixty eight others listed.

      Elisha and Mary Bisbey joined 60 others in signing a document pertaining to witchcraft as follows: "Hingham the 7th Feb. 1709-9. Where as we the underwritten have heard that there are scandalous reports of the widow Mahatabel Warren of Plymouth, we, knowing that she was brought up in the place, and in her younger time had been a person of great affliction, before she was married, and hath lived in this towne divers years in her widowhood and we never have had any suspition nor have ever heard that any amongst us have had the least suspition that ever she was guilty of the sin of being a witch or anything that may occation (sic) such suspition of her."

      An item from Plymouth County Records, 16 June, 1692, is as follows: "John Rogers was on a jury to lay out and remove highways in Marshfield, in their return they describe a way which ran near the houses of the three brothers and in the new way which said Rogers lately made, and so on over the Cover Creek by his house and so along by Frenche's tinnament and Henry Perry's house to the upper end of the field before said Perry's door, and then turning southwards along by the Cove Creek, downward as the old way leadeth by the house and so as the new way now lieth near to Joseph Rogers' fence and so on a line of Elisha Bisbee." [2]
