  • Notes 
    • During the gold rush in 1849 Mark spend time on the Pacific Coast, but in 1856 returned home to Illinois and located on his farm in St. Charles. During the Civil War served in the Illinois 8th Cavalry Regiment as batallion quartermaster sargent. [1]
