      Helen Bisbee, a native of Benjamin, Texas, was born in 1904. She taught school in Benjamin, Trent, Wink, and Phillips, Texas. During World War II, Bisbee served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAACS) and was stationed for a time in New Guinea and the Philippines. After retiring from the Phillips school district in 1966, she joined the Peace Corps and helped to train teachers in British Honduras (now Belize). She returned to Texas in 1968, but soon left to teach Navajo children at Fort Defiance, Arizona for two years. She returned to Borger, Texas and participated in community activities until she moved to John Knox Retirement Village (now Carillon Senior Living Community) in Lubbock. [3]
