    Text According to Widow's Declaration for Pension, Martha Bisbee states, "that she is the widow of Leroy H. Bisbie, who enlisted under the name of Leroy H. Bisbee at Rochester, NY, on the 10th day of January, 1864 in Company "E" 22 Regiment New York Cavalry Vols. in the War of Rebellion, 1861-1865, who contracted disability from Rheumatism, or a difficulty in his left side and back, by which he suffered great pain in side and back, during his service and in line of duty, about the winter of 1864-65, or in the spring of 1865, which said rheumatism or difficulty resulted in disease of heart of which he died on the 11th day of May A.D. 1889, who bore at the time of his death the rank of Private in the service aforesaid, that she married under the name of Martha Soul to said LeRoy H. Bisbie on the 18th day of November A.D. 1865 by Rev. Sam Scoville at Norwich, N.Y. there being no legal barrier to such marriage; that neither she nor her husband had been previously married; that she has to present date remained his widow; that she has never had any children; that she had not in any manner engaged in, or aided or abetted, the rebellion in the United States..."
