    Text 1 September 1862: Stephen Bisbe enrolled Lebanon NY, Co. F. 157th Regiment, NY Volunteer Infantry to serve three years or during the war.
    29 December 1862: he mustered in at Hamilton, NY, Co. F. 157th NYVI.
    1 July 1863: he was wounded in an arm and side at Battle of Gettysburg.
    1 July - 31 August 1863: he was carried on Company muster rolls, "absent, wounded at Gettysburg."
    14-28 October 1863: he had general surgery on wound to upper arm and left side flesh.
    28 October 1863: he was furloughed.
    6 November 1863: he returned to duty.
    1 December 1863: he transferred out to Co. "B" 20th V.R.C. (Veteran Reserve Corps) at Baltimore, MD.
    30 June 1864 to 30 April 1865: he was on detached service at Pt. Lookout, MD.
    3 July 1865: he was discharged at Baltimore, MD, under G.O. No. 116 [C G O].
    According to granddaughter Leona Marie (Oaks) Coye of Randallsville (1998), Stephen was wounded in the left wrist and kept the minnie ball (which Marie still has) as a souvenir. Another bullet lodged in his left side near his heart and was never removed.
